The Love of Something To Wrestle With Podcast Bruce Prichard & Conrad Thompson

The Love of Something To Wrestle
With Podcast Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson

Something To Wrestle With is a wrestling podcast started in 2016 with Conrad Thompson and former WWE Employee and Right hand man to Vince Mcmahon for over 20 years Bruce Prichard.

I discovered this podcast after Episode 12 TNA Wrestling after listening to it and enjoying it so much I immediately then went and listened back to the eleven previous episodes.

Something to Wrestle With helps bring the fan closer to Wrestlers, PPV event or  insight into certain incidents in Wrestling history where Bruce was Present, its a fascinating look into the world of pro wrestling and why certain decisions were made.

Cast
Bruce Prichard

Bruce Prichard way of delivering his stories really pulled me in, Bruce is able to relay what happened, the hilarious situations, the people he was with and what took place.

Bruce not only gives his point of view and perspective but also tries to give the company viewpoint at the time and if he knows it what Vince Mcmahon thought about something in particular.

Bruce Prichard when telling these stories comes out with So many funny sayings and impressions which make them so much better!

Sayings

"Hey Pal"
"I used to be over"
"Well you Know"
"Huh"
"Pronouns Pal"
"No Yob"
"I'm Over"

Impressions

Any Bruce Prichard Impression of Vince Mcmahon
Brice Prichard Impression of Jerry Jarrett - Chicken Salad
Bruce Prichard Impression of Jim Cornette
(George The Rat, Double Cheese, Double onion/MotherF****r)
Dusty Rhodes
Macho Man
Rowdy Roddy Piper

Conrad Thompson

The Importance of Conrad Thompson alongside is vital, as Conrad will poke, probe and push Bruce to talk more about particular subjects or get him to expand on the thinking of WWE inner circle, or Impact Wrestling brain trust when he was working for each organisation respectively.

Conrad role is key to the podcast and getting the best out of Bruce as Conrad does so much research for the shows and the subject they are going to be talking about sometimes some shows can go as long as 4 hours or more due to amount of discussion that is needed.

Conrad also has come up with some signature sayings and catchphrases such as

"What Happened When"
"Chat me up"
"Roll Tide"
"What Say You"
"Who Booked this S**t"

Episodes to Start off With

If I was to give you advice about how to listen to these episodes I would actually advise you to start off with a bonus episode Houston Wrestling Episode 31.

Houston Wrestling to me is one of my favourite episodes because it gives you the background to Bruce Prichard where he came from, How he got into Professional Wrestling and what it was like working for Paul Bosch and what it was like being around such a colourful cast of characters in Houston and some of the stories and shenanigans that went with it.

Following this I would then listen to Episode 33 Why Was Bruce Fired from WWE, Bruce talks about his time in WWE what led to his original release in 1992 and what they led to his eventual release from WWE by Stephanie Mcmahon in 2008. Again this gives a lot of Background to Bruce the thought processes in WWE and Bruce talks about himself his personal issues and what incidents led up to his release. Bruce comes across very honest and its an interesting and insightful episode.

Something to Wrestle With LIVE

As the podcast episodes were doing so well, Bruce and Conrad decided to take Something to Wrestle With on the road and have a live show where they could talk to an audience and tell stories that they wouldn't be able to tell on the podcast. They do a number of these shows a year usually after WWE PPV events.

You can find out where they are next by clicking on the link below

I have been to Something to Wrestle With Live with Bruce Prichard when Bruce did a UK tour in July 2017. I got to meet Bruce before the show and he signed my something to Wrestle With T shirt and was a tremendous person to meet, I got a picture with him and the Live show was fantastic got to hear so much, that we are unable to hear on Podcast and a great story about Vince Mcmahon and "Got to Have Class Pal" (if you go to a live show in the future I'm sure you'll hear the story :)

Why Something To Wrestle is Special to Me

Something To Wrestle with Podcast has a special place for me as when I was in Japan in January 2017 for Wrestlekingdom, it was my first time in Japan and where I stayed not may people spoke English (although they were so amazing and nice to me) and I couldn't understand TV because I couldn't understand Japanese. So for most of the week I put in ipod in a mug or glass (to amplify the sound) and would put on Something to Wrestle with Episodes in the background to keep me entertained while in my room and the great thing was some were 3-4 hours in length, which really helped when I couldn't sleep at night due to jet lag.

There are many different types of Podcasts from Episodes Around Individual people (CM Punk, Paul Heyman, Ultimate Warrior) to podcasts around specific events (No Mercy 1999,  Summerslam 2000 etc)

Episodes I listened to While I was Away in Japan (12 Hour Fights there and back) and would recommend

Episode 2 - The Mega Powers
Episode 3 - Lex Express
Episode 6 - Brawl For All
Episode 7 - WWF Steroid Trial
Episode 15 - Brian Pillman in WWF
Episode 17 - TNA Wrestling Chapter 2
Episode 20 - Royal Rumble 1997
Episode 21 - Mr Perfect
Episode 22 - Love to Know
Episode 36 - Rowdy Roddy Piper ( A personal Favourite and beautiful emotional ending)

There is so many great episodes to listen too and what I would say is check out the full episode list here at  http://www.mlwradio.com/something-to-wrestle-with-bruce-prichard.html

They are currently adding all the main clips and things you need to know about the show as well as full episodes go through them and listen/download what episodes and subjects you want to hear more about and enjoy.

Women's Wrestling as I was growing up was very sparse. I was a big WWE fan and started watching in 1990 as a 4 year old. We used to see some females in front of the camera Miss Elizabeth, Sensational Sherri and more but rarely did we see them wrestle.  As time moved i...

My Memories Kevin Nash WCW years 1996-2001

My Memories Kevin Nash WCW Years 1996 -2001   After the success of my last blog Kevin Nash the WWE years 1993-1996 (Which can be viewed here)   http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=1989536858659423683#editor/target=post;postID=6495934313225897804     Based on feedback I received I decided that I would do another blog on Kevin Nash this time looking back at the next part of his career from Mid 1996-2001 Kevin Nash Career in WCW.   This blog differs slightly to the last one as at this time in my life we could not watch WCW here in the UK as we did not have Sky TV Therefore some of this I saw at the time and other things I have had to research.       When Kevin Nash Left WWF in May of 1996 it was to move to longtime WWF Rival WCW. Kevin was no stranger to WCW having been in WCW before he came to WWE in 1993. Kevin Came in  to WCW a week after his good friend Scott Hall made his debut on WCW Nitro May 27th 19...
