CM Punk Fired - Tony Khan did the best thing for AEW

I want to preface this blog with this, what is written here is my own opinion, I'm an AEW Fan and none of us (apart from Tony Khan and CM Punk) fully know what the full situation. Its merely my opinion on the CM Punk saga in AEW and what Ultimately led to his demise within the company It's  been just over a week since CM Punk was fired by AEW for cause. Tony Khan went out in front of the world and the hometown of himself and CM Punk, Chicago to inform them that CM Punk was no longer wrestling for AEW and had been terminated.  See the video below via Youtube of Tony Khan announcing CM Punk firing from AEW. CM Punk joined AEW on August 20 2021 amongst so much fanfare in Chicago at AEW Rampage it was an emotional moment and incredible moment, something we thought we would never see.  You can see CM Punk return below from AEW Youtube channel (which has been viewed over 16 Million times!) It made people feel happy, the thoughts of the dream matches, the feu...

Why did Cody Rhodes Leave AEW? Family? Money? Ego? Creative?

On Feb 15th 2022 it was announced on AEW twitter via a statement for AEW owner Tony Khan that Cody Rhodes along with his wife Brandi could not come to an agreement on a new deal and that Cody and Brandi have left AEW in both capacity as wrestlers and also Cody as Executive Vice President and Brandi as Chief Brand Officer for AEW. Cody Rhodes then released his own statement following the news of him leaving  There have been many theories and lots of rumours and reasoning on the internet and in the wrestling world as to why.  I thought we'd have a look at some of these and see if any make sense and what could be next for Cody Rhodes. Firstly let me give my opinion as a fan for what its worth looking from the outside in.  I personally find it very strange that Cody Rhodes chose to leave right now. Cody was a successful EVP, His Wife a Successful Brand Officer, He had his own Show Rhodes to the Top and was a judge on Go Big Show. Plus he was also working with his broth...

Now is the time for All Elite Wrestling to grow TV ratings and Youtube Subscribers

AEW and its flagship TV show AEW Dynamite has been established since Oct 2019 and since that launch they have been opposed by WWE and WWE NXT brand.  WWE along with USA network put NXT on USA Network on Wednesday nights to oppose AEW on TNT Network. WWE made a statement and as from 30 March 2021 NXT will now to on Tuesday nights leaving AEW unopposed and the only wrestling show to watch on Wednesdays. AEW are now on their own and with NXT on Tuesday all the focus will be on them. They have their own night and will have the whole audience. So what challenges lay ahead for AEW?  AEW need to be able to not only be able to excite the audience they have but also progress and be able to gain even more fans and people watching their product.  Now more than ever AEW storylines, how they present themselves is going to be under the microscope even more. For me this is where the experienced wrestlers come in, so many people have questioned why AEW signed established stars. For ...

Paul Wight (Big Show) joins All Elite Wrestling from WWE and why its so important

In massive news this week it was announced by All Elite Wrestling that they have signed Paul Wight (formally known as The Big Show). This was shocking news, no one knew this was happening or that Paul Wight wanted to leave WWE where Wight had been wresting since 1999 and decided to leave after 22 Years with the company.  This is a huge (no pun intended) singing for AEW and just the sort of signing they needed.  Paul Wight is one of the most recognisable faces in Wrestling due to his long tenure ( he started in WCW in 1995), his size being the largest wrestler in the world and also his credibility as a top talent. Put Paul Wight on a poster, video game cover, advertisement and fans will know who he is, even fans that haven't watched in years will know who he is and that may draw in fans to watch AEW who may not of known about it or given it a chance before. Paul Wight was thrust into many roles and he has experienced many different things through...

All Elite Tony Khan

All Elite Tony Khan When AEW was announced on Jan 1st 2019 there were so many questions, Who was going to be on the roster, what shows would they have? and how would they compete in the wrestling world? The biggest question of all though who was behind the formation of AEW - that man name is Tony Khan. Tony Khan states that the wheels were turning for starting a promotion in 2018 and then Tony Khan went to  All In event that was ran by Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. After this event Tony Khan started having conversations in the following months with these talents about forming a new promotion and what he wanted to achieve and what he saw his vision was. Tony Khan advises that the way he got AEW started was by going to his father Shad Khan with a very detailed business plan of what they needed to invest and what was needed to bring it together. Tony explains that he had to present his idea to his father and it had to make good business sen...

AEW All Elite Wrestling to Sky Sports in The UK?

AEW  All Elite Wrestling to Sky Sports in The UK?  All Elite Wrestling airs in the UK on ITV 4 on a Friday night and ITV Hub (Itv on demand service should be uploaded on a Thursday) ITV don't air AEW Dynamite live and a separate subscription has to be purchased via Fite.TV if fans wish to do this.  Initially things started off OK although @itvwrestling had difficulties getting Dynamite on ITV Hub on time (they promised Thursdays at 7pm) usually this was up on a Friday morning. However as the weeks went on the uploading to ITV hub did not get any better and as of this writing its as worse as it has ever been they don't upload the episodes consistently which is leaving many fans frustrated and ITV Wrestling haven't been communicating with fans. @ITV Wrestling haven't tweeted about AEW since Dec 5th - they haven't updated any of their graphics since Full Gear and ITV wrestling now seem totally...

AEW in the UK on ITV HUB What is going wrong?

AEW in the UK on ITV HUB  What is going wrong?  Credit WhatCulture All Elite Wrestling Debuted its TV show AEW Dynamite on 2 Oct 2019 on TNT in USA. In the UK it was a little more complicated. A week before Dynamite was due to air, according to All Elite Wrestling Owner Tony Khan "An over zealous ITV employee was quick to tweet out part of the deal we have with ITV for AEW Dynamite" That communication is below  "ITV will show Dynamite four days later on Sunday mornings at 8:20am, except for pay-per-view weeks"  This enraged UK fans who thought that AEW would be airing live on ITV, Instead another tweet followed by Tony Khan which advised Following this UK AEW fans were then advised  So to watch AEW Live in the UK fans would have to pay for this through Fite TV.  Fans then waited patiently on Oct 3rd 2019 for ITV to upload AEW Dynamite to ITV Hub the day after it aired on TNT.   7pm came and went  and No AE...

UK TV Wrestling - All Elite Wrestling to ITV and WWE to BT sport

UK TV Wrestling - All Elite Wrestling to ITV and WWE to BT Sport All Elite Wrestling to ITV Wow, just wow, In what has been the most game changing weeks in professional wrestling in the last 20 years. All elite wrestling announced that they had secured a TV deal with itv in the UK. This deal with UK biggest to rights broadcaster gives ITV rights For itv box office to air AEW pay per view events and for itv network to air AEW new weekly to show.  ITV used to show WCW back in the early 90s and then stopped showing wrestling until world of sport wrestling returned in 2018, ITV dipped their toe back in the water and I think they got a feeling that they would like to add wrestling on a more full time basis , sadly however for WOS it wasn't to be the UK promotion and ITV decided to take a chance with the all new AEW. A few days later at TV upfront in Madison square garden AEW and Time Warner announced that AEW would be debuting a new weekly to show on TNT in U...
