Why did Cody Rhodes Leave AEW? Family? Money? Ego? Creative?

On Feb 15th 2022 it was announced on AEW twitter via a statement for AEW owner Tony Khan that Cody Rhodes along with his wife Brandi could not come to an agreement on a new deal and that Cody and Brandi have left AEW in both capacity as wrestlers and also Cody as Executive Vice President and Brandi as Chief Brand Officer for AEW. Cody Rhodes then released his own statement following the news of him leaving  There have been many theories and lots of rumours and reasoning on the internet and in the wrestling world as to why.  I thought we'd have a look at some of these and see if any make sense and what could be next for Cody Rhodes. Firstly let me give my opinion as a fan for what its worth looking from the outside in.  I personally find it very strange that Cody Rhodes chose to leave right now. Cody was a successful EVP, His Wife a Successful Brand Officer, He had his own Show Rhodes to the Top and was a judge on Go Big Show. Plus he was also working with his broth...

Now is the time for All Elite Wrestling to grow TV ratings and Youtube Subscribers

AEW and its flagship TV show AEW Dynamite has been established since Oct 2019 and since that launch they have been opposed by WWE and WWE NXT brand.  WWE along with USA network put NXT on USA Network on Wednesday nights to oppose AEW on TNT Network. WWE made a statement and as from 30 March 2021 NXT will now to on Tuesday nights leaving AEW unopposed and the only wrestling show to watch on Wednesdays. AEW are now on their own and with NXT on Tuesday all the focus will be on them. They have their own night and will have the whole audience. So what challenges lay ahead for AEW?  AEW need to be able to not only be able to excite the audience they have but also progress and be able to gain even more fans and people watching their product.  Now more than ever AEW storylines, how they present themselves is going to be under the microscope even more. For me this is where the experienced wrestlers come in, so many people have questioned why AEW signed established stars. For ...

The Forbidden Door is Open AEW and NJPW

Since the inception of AEW at a press conference in Jacksonville, Florida on 8 January 2019 fans have been wondering and clamouring could there be a cross promotion between the newly formed AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling. With the majority of the AEW Roster being announced at the conference in Jan 2019 and being revealed as a number of Ex New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Alumni (Cody, The Young Bucks, Chris Jericho, Adam Page etc) and then following this in Feb 2019 Kenny Omega was announced as AEW signee, fans grew hopefully that a collaboration might happen. However sadly during the first year of the company this was not to be. AEW during that year had Jon Moxley, Best Friends, Lance Archer and other NJPW Alumni join their roster and  despite AEW and AEW Owner Tony Khan allowing his AEW contracted wrestlers to wrestle for NJPW (Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley) New Japan was still unwilling to allow their wrestlers to appear on AEW. Then thing star...

Are Fan Expectations for Kenny Omega in All Elite Wrestling too high?

Are Fan Expectations for Kenny Omega in  All Elite Wrestling too high? I saw this post above on Twitter recently and was originally posted on Reddit by user U/Miber3 and it really got me thinking.  It is interesting to see that Kenny Omega has a similar Singles record in both companies and  a lower Tag Team win percentage in NJPW and the match rating is also very similar between both companies  too.  There has been a lot of talk and a narrative from wrestling fans since Kenny Omega joined AEW. Fans had seen what he had done in NJPW and the epic matches that he had with Okada, Naito and many others and immediately expected the same in AEW. Kenny Omega was expected to come into AEW and start straight off the bat having these epic matches but the expectation was unfair.  Kenny Omega was in a place of transition from being a wrestler to now being a wrestler and EVP of a brand new wrestling company, leaving  Japan where we had been ...

I Love but am confused and frustrated with All Elite Wrestling

I Love but am confused and frustrated with All Elite Wrestling I have been debating about whether i should write about this or not. I love All Elite Wrestling I love that there is an alternative wrestling product and there is something new to challenge the established wrestling companies and to help everyone raise their game. When AEW was announced and the press conference took place I was so happy, to see the formation of a new company something which i thought i would never see in my lifetime with the hottest free agents in the world Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson and Cody was a dream come true. AEW stated that they were going to have rankings and be a sports centric product that took wrestling seriously and was going to be something fresh for the lapsed fan and be something that they could be proud to say they watched. Fast forward a few months later Oct 2019 and AEW Dynamite, AEW weekly TV show begins and ...

AEW All Elite Wrestling to Sky Sports in The UK?

AEW  All Elite Wrestling to Sky Sports in The UK?  All Elite Wrestling airs in the UK on ITV 4 on a Friday night and ITV Hub (Itv on demand service should be uploaded on a Thursday) ITV don't air AEW Dynamite live and a separate subscription has to be purchased via Fite.TV if fans wish to do this.  Initially things started off OK although @itvwrestling had difficulties getting Dynamite on ITV Hub on time (they promised Thursdays at 7pm) usually this was up on a Friday morning. However as the weeks went on the uploading to ITV hub did not get any better and as of this writing its as worse as it has ever been they don't upload the episodes consistently which is leaving many fans frustrated and ITV Wrestling haven't been communicating with fans. @ITV Wrestling haven't tweeted about AEW since Dec 5th - they haven't updated any of their graphics since Full Gear and ITV wrestling now seem totally...

In his early years to working All over his native Canada to Smoky Mountain Wrestling all the way through to Many Companies in Mexico and Japan and then to USA with  ECW, WCW and WWE and becoming a wrestling star, Best Selling Author, a Podcaster with Talk is Jericho and Front man and Rockstar with his band Fozzy, Chris Jericho has achieved so much his resume speaks for itself.  I've seen Chris Jericho Wrestle at a WWE House Show in Cardiff, I saw his Band Fozzy again in Cardiff, Wales at Cardiff university, i then saw Fozzy again a few years later in Exeter and own every Chris Jericho book ever released and also the owner of many Jericho T shirts, Chris Jericho is a name known all over the world in so many different genres.
