AEW in the UK on ITV HUB What is going wrong?

What is going wrong?

All Elite Wrestling Debuted its TV show AEW Dynamite on 2 Oct 2019 on TNT in USA.

In the UK it was a little more complicated. A week before Dynamite was due to air, according to All Elite Wrestling Owner Tony Khan "An over zealous ITV employee was quick to tweet out part of the deal we have with ITV for AEW Dynamite"

That communication is below

"ITV will show Dynamite four days later on Sunday mornings at 8:20am, except for pay-per-view weeks"
This enraged UK fans who thought that AEW would be airing live on ITV, Instead another tweet followed by Tony Khan which advised

Following this UK AEW fans were then advised

So to watch AEW Live in the UK fans would have to pay for this through Fite TV.

Fans then waited patiently on Oct 3rd 2019 for ITV to upload AEW Dynamite to ITV Hub the day after it aired on TNT.

7pm came and went  and No AEW Dynamite uploaded to ITV Hub until 10pm.
Oct 3rd 2019

Then Again on
Oct 10th 2019

And Again on
Oct 17 2019

Plus 24th Oct 2019

4 weeks in a row UK AEW fans have had to contend with upload issues from ITV and ITV Wrestling. AEW are a new start up company and I believe it deserves better than this.

If ITV and ITV wrestling cant deliver AEW Dynamite on time at 7pm on a Thursday then communicate with the fans and tell them that it's not viable and your moving to Friday as an example.

Wrestling fans are very loyal and are willing to put up with alot but AEW and ITV have to be careful as fans will only put up with this for so long before they decide not to watch at all.

Alot of fans were turning to illegal streams of the show, which were up mere hours after the show aired, while it's not right and in fact illegal, the fact is this is what some fans are doing because of the delays.

I have asked the question on a few separate occasions but not had any answer

Do ITV and ITV Wrestling make any money from people subscribing to FITE TV to watch the shows live?

If I knew the answer to this the issues below might make alot more sense.

Some fans have a theory that ITV Hub are doing this on purpose and they actually make a percentage of money from FITE TV subscriptions for AEW and that it is more beneficial for ITV and Fite that they delay the shows going online as fans that want to watch it will have to pay instead, the more they delay the free broadcast on ITV Hub the more money they make on FITE.

Without any evidence that allegation is unfounded and therefore not true, Unless we hear anything more from Fite TV, ITV or AEW about revenue share for AEW Dynamite that would support or deny this.

No Matter what this needs to be addressed on 24 Oct 2019 no updates were posted by ITV Wrestling at all, nothing all evening, not one tweet, nothing to tell fans when the show might do up, that's not acceptable, at least respect fans enough to tell them, saying nothing is worse than saying something.

So what would I do to resolve this?

Here's my bullet point list

  • Communicate with the fans, put out a written statement on Twitter, do a short video, anything, explain to the fans what has been happening and educate us to your situation and why uploads take so long.
  • Change the Upload day. Thursday obviously isn't achievable, Pick a new day and a new time.
  • Once the above point has been done, be consistent and upload on time.
We all love All Elite Wrestling, fans complain because they care and want to see an excellent wrestling product. ITV please be the company that is helping to facilitate great pro wrestling to all the fans in the UK you have an amazing opportunity here especially with WWE moving to the much smaller BT Sport from Sky.

Help AEW capture an audience that can help push the company to new heights

Thanks for Reading

WWE Royal Rumble 2013 Ziggler is Lucky Number 1...or 2

WWE Royal Rumble 2013 Ziggler is Lucky Number 1 (or 2) Dolph Ziggler This Sunday 27th January 2013 WWE Royal Rumble will air. Generally One of the best WWE PPV's of the year. This year 30 Man Royal Rumble match has alot of intrigue built into it most people are of the opinion that John Cena will be winning this years event and then go on to face The Rock at Wrestlemania. However after seeing this past Monday's WWE raw WWE might have something else in mind.,.,, Royal Rumble 2013 A Beat the clock challenge took place on WWE Raw and the winner of this we were originally told could pick their number for the Royal Rumble Match. Dolph Ziggler Ends up winning the Beat The Clock challenge then when he is bragging about this Vicki Guerreo informs Ziggler that it is not a free choice of Royal Rumble Entry number instead it is a number chosen within a certain range Number one to Number two. Here's what WWE could do This I feel is the ideal opportunity fo...

WWE TV in UK 2024 Will it Stay on TNT Sports, Move Back to Sky or Somewhere new?

In 2020 WWE signed a multi year deal with TNT Sports (BT Sport at the time) to air WWE programming WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and WWE NXT.  Channel 5 also airs highlights of WWE RAW and WWE Smackdown but on a week delay - Channel 5 is a free to air channel here in the UK.  Last week I received an email as a WWE Network subscriber here in the UK to inform me that I could now watch WWE NXT every week on WWE Network from 3rd Jan 2024. So this email got me thinking - is the WWE/TNT Sports UK TV deal coming up soon? it looks possible. Looking at the original story of the deal being made in 2020 multiple sources claim that it is a "multi year deal" See below  ( https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a28113145/wwe-smackdown-raw-watch-uk-tv-bt-sport/)     I could not find how many specific years that was., However I thought i'd give my opinion on where WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown could end up in 2024, The rights fee's obviously are alot less than there are in ...

Strike Wrestling Results Bournemouth May 20th 2018

Strike Wrestling Results Bournemouth May 20th 2018   Hello Wrestling fans! Welcome to the first ever Strike Wrestling Results blog!  I went to Bournemouth and took x2 trains and a bus to get there and it was well worth the effort. Before I get to the wrestling a bit about Bournemouth Bournemouth is a beautiful town it was a sunny hot day. I managed to go to the beach and see the pier and get a great view from Bournemouth on top of the cliffs, where there were also many of great restaurants and places to eat. Check out my on the road video on Strike Wrestling by clicking the video below! This was my first show at Strike Wrestling and Strike is an over 18’s show so I was expecting a different vibe, feel and presentation to family orientated wrestling that I have attended in the past. Strike wrestling is high paced, hard hitting, fast action but with a huge streak of entertainment, fun and having a great time.   Fr...
