Roman Reigns WWE Universal Title Record Reign Does it Matter?
Roman Reigns has been WWE universal champion as of this writing for an incredible 1058 days. The Story of Roman Reigns and the Bloodline has been one of the most engaging compelling piece of storytelling in many years in WWE.
Roman won the WWE universal title in August 2020 from Bray Wyatt, and since put on some tremendous matches along the way.
Looking back at these matches so many of them stand out Logan Paul at Crown Jewel, Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber, Drew Mcintyre at Clash at The Castle, Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemaina 39. There is no denying that the quality of the matches has been great.
WWE even felt strongly that the Universal title wasn't being defended as much and Triple H (Head of Creative, WWE) came out on WWE RAW and said because WWE felt Universal title was not being defended as much they created WWE Heavyweight Title on 24 April 2023 in order for this to be defended more on TV and on Premium live events.
What it brings into question is have WWE de-valued Roman Reigns title reign?
In my opinion they have, having to create a new title and to actually say Roman does not defend his title enough i think really hurt what Roman was doing and the intrigue about when he was going to lose his title. WWE told us "Roman title doesn't mean as much as he does not defend it" here is a new one that will mean more.
I didn't understand and don't understand now how that was meant to help Roman, his reign and his perception as a champion. More confusing was a few weeks after they announced Roman as 1000 day champion and gave him a new title.
Roman not defending the title so much is on WWE is a WWE problem. WWE are aware of his contract, how many dates he can work and how many matches he can have a year that is not Roman fault. To Roman credit also, WWE business with him at the helm has been the best it has been in years for the company, with them consistently breaking attendance records, generating more revenue and being more profitable than ever.
Inside the ring also Roman has also brought people along with him The Usos Jimmy and Jey have become much bigger stars in the last 3 years also with the addition of Solo Sikoa it has helped him to become a bigger star by just being associated with Roman and The Bloodline Group. One of the biggest stars to come out of this group was Sami Zayn the momentum he created for himself was incredible, he caught on and had so much fan support but WWE decided to go in a different direction with Sami and Kevin Owens defeated The Usos in Main Event Wrestlemiana 39.
The Story has continued to evolve to the point now that The Bloodline group have broken up and The Usos now oppose Roman and everything that he has done to them and made them do. Jey Uso will be challenging Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2023. Could Jey be the guy to finally topple Reigns? The Answer could be very possibly.
My reasoning for this is that they have done so much that now its maybe time to start making even more stars out of this and if you are going to make a new star in a singles environment Jey Uso seems a very sound choice and it would be great to see him elevated forward to see what Jey could do as a singles star in WWE after being in a team for so long.
If Jey does not defeat Roman Reigns and Roman continues his historic title reign then who will take the title from Roman? John Cena? The Rock? Cody Rhodes? Randy Orton? or will someone else in WWE rise through the ranks, gain support of the fans and be the right person to take the title LA Knight? Gunther?
What we do know is that WWE have plenty of options and they can play this to the maximum what we all hope is that WWE time it right and the next guy is the right guy.
WWE Royal Rumble 2013 Ziggler is Lucky Number 1 (or 2) Dolph Ziggler This Sunday 27th January 2013 WWE Royal Rumble will air. Generally One of the best WWE PPV's of the year. This year 30 Man Royal Rumble match has alot of intrigue built into it most people are of the opinion that John Cena will be winning this years event and then go on to face The Rock at Wrestlemania. However after seeing this past Monday's WWE raw WWE might have something else in mind.,.,, Royal Rumble 2013 A Beat the clock challenge took place on WWE Raw and the winner of this we were originally told could pick their number for the Royal Rumble Match. Dolph Ziggler Ends up winning the Beat The Clock challenge then when he is bragging about this Vicki Guerreo informs Ziggler that it is not a free choice of Royal Rumble Entry number instead it is a number chosen within a certain range Number one to Number two. Here's what WWE could do This I feel is the ideal opportunity fo...
In 2020 WWE signed a multi year deal with TNT Sports (BT Sport at the time) to air WWE programming WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and WWE NXT. Channel 5 also airs highlights of WWE RAW and WWE Smackdown but on a week delay - Channel 5 is a free to air channel here in the UK. Last week I received an email as a WWE Network subscriber here in the UK to inform me that I could now watch WWE NXT every week on WWE Network from 3rd Jan 2024. So this email got me thinking - is the WWE/TNT Sports UK TV deal coming up soon? it looks possible. Looking at the original story of the deal being made in 2020 multiple sources claim that it is a "multi year deal" See below ( https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a28113145/wwe-smackdown-raw-watch-uk-tv-bt-sport/) I could not find how many specific years that was., However I thought i'd give my opinion on where WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown could end up in 2024, The rights fee's obviously are alot less than there are in ...
