Era of Aldis is Ending - Nick Aldis leaving NWA

Era of Aldis is Ending - Nick Aldis leaving NWA
In a video posted on Nov 6 for subscribers (although accidently got posted for everyone) Nick Aldis announced that he will be leaving NWA on expiry of his contract on Jan 1 2023.

Aldis was the founding member of Billy Corgan NWA, being there from day one, a mainstay of the Billy Corgan era.

Aldis starting a feud with then NWA Champion Tim Storm and telling an incredible story throughout the early stages of NWA on a Youtube series called 10 Pounds of Gold.

I think 10 Pounds of Gold really helped show the world who Nick Aldis is and give more exposure to him as a wrestler and also as a human being. It did the same for Tim Storm & fans got an insight and it was a series that got fans to care about both of them and really helped establish both in the NWA.

I think it showed a different side of Aldis, one where you actually got to know the character of Nick Aldis. Aldis was getting to show the world who he really was as a wrestler which I don't think he got to do in impact before that. Nick was able to articulate his frustration to the NWA audience and then proclaim himself "The National Treasure"

Aldis become NWA World Champion after defeating Tim Storm at CZW Cage OF Death on Dec 9th 2017. This started the era of the national treasure.

Aldis lost the NWA Title to Cody and then won it back NWA 70 on October 21, 2018, Aldis longest reign with the gold was an incredible 1043 days eventually losing the title to Trevor Murdoch at NWA 73 on August 29, 2021.

During his 2nd run Nick Aldis defended NWA World Title all over the world from USA, England, China and so many more, be become a proper true world champion.

NWA Powerrr TV series become centered around Nick Aldis and NWA created a group around Nick called Strictly Business which consisted of Kamille, Thom Latimer and Royce Isaac (latterly Isaac left NWA and was replaced by Chris Adonis). The group helped Nick Aldis retain the gold and helped Aldis clear away any threats to this title reign.

Nick Aldis really become a great focal point for NWA to build around, he helped bring others forward with him and was willing to do everything he could to make NWA as great as it could be.

Nick Aldis also has been working as a backstage producer for NWA and has been doing lots behind the scenes to help the product develop.

So why has Nick Aldis left now?

I think its got to a point where Nick Aldis has done all he can do in NWA, he has been World Champion, he has dominated the promotion become its top star under Billy Corgan and has done it all, once you've done it all you've then got to go forward to something new, a new challenge a new goal.

I don't know but i think its because of one word opportunity.

Nick Aldis deserves a shot in a big stage to test himself against the best, he has many avenues open to him WWE, AEW, Impact, New Japan Pro Wrestling. I don't think Nick would be leaving NWA if it wasn't for a huge opportunity.

Lets look at each one

AEW - For me I don't think this works, AEW bring in alot of talent & don't seem to use them to their fullest and they have a huge roster, which means not enough time for everyone, this is a possibility for Nick for sure, but feel he would get lost in the shuffle of a super massive roster who for me are not showcasing the talent they have signed already enough. I think AEW would treat Nick Aldis as just another guy and he deserves better than that.

Impact - While Nick Aldis has been there before and their are different owners and its a different company to the one he felt i just can't see Nick Aldis going backwards. Nick has been there and done that & i think he needs to go forward with something new.

New Japan - This could be very interesting and would be very interesting to see some match ups such as Jay White, Okada, Tanhashi, Zack Sabre Jr, Will Ospreay, Naito and so many more. It could be a tremendous step in the career of Aldis,. The only thing that makes me lean against this for him is that Nick has a young family in USA and being in Japan for long periods or time would effect that massively.

My hope is Nick Aldis gets on opportunity in WWE.

WWE - I know Nick Aldis has said previously there were alot of political and backstage reasons as to why he maybe has not been with WWE before, but I hope they have been resolved and put to the side so he can obtain the opportunity he should of had years ago.

If you look at somebody like LA Knight formally of NWA and went through NXT and now onto WWE main roster my belief is that maybe those backstage in WWE could see Nick Aldis taking a similar path and he could be an experienced, valued member of their team, who can talk on the mic but also get in done between the ropes but is also seasoned and has experience working all over the world, that's somebody WWE need right now.

In an update today Friday 11 November 2022 Nick Aldis did a full interview with Sam Roberts talking about NWA Situation you can watch it below
I wish Nick Aldis the best wherever he does go, the loss to NWA is massive, its the founding member of the new era moving on, he leaves a legacy of helping create the NWA of today and Nick Aldis can always and forever be proud of that.

This year 30 Man Royal Rumble match has alot of intrigue built into it most people are of the opinion that John Cena will be winning this years event and then go on to face The Rock at Wrestlemania. Here's what WWE could do This I feel is the ideal opportunity fo...

WWE TV in UK 2024 Will it Stay on TNT Sports, Move Back to Sky or Somewhere new?

In 2020 WWE signed a multi year deal with TNT Sports (BT Sport at the time) to air WWE programming WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and WWE NXT.  Channel 5 also airs highlights of WWE RAW and WWE Smackdown but on a week delay - Channel 5 is a free to air channel here in the UK.  Last week I received an email as a WWE Network subscriber here in the UK to inform me that I could now watch WWE NXT every week on WWE Network from 3rd Jan 2024. So this email got me thinking - is the WWE/TNT Sports UK TV deal coming up soon? it looks possible. Looking at the original story of the deal being made in 2020 multiple sources claim that it is a "multi year deal" See below  ( https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a28113145/wwe-smackdown-raw-watch-uk-tv-bt-sport/)     I could not find how many specific years that was., However I thought i'd give my opinion on where WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown could end up in 2024, The rights fee's obviously are alot less than there are in ...
