Give him the Ball - Mr Anderson.....Anderson
Before I begin what I'll write here is my opinion as a wrestling fan, I'm not a wrestling expert and nor do I claim to be, This is merely my opinion from what I see on TV and from Interviews and Quotes of the subject themselves. This is just my opinion and thoughts so enjoy!!!
Hello All I'm back again today with something that has been on my mind for the past few days as many of you who follow me on twitter (@jon422002) Will know I'm a massive Fan of Impact Wrestling Ken Anderson formally know as Mr Kennedy in WWE. Mr Anderson has always been entertaining to me, I enjoy his attitude promos and what he says. Plus he has great Tshirts and I own lots of them!!
A man with all this skill I don't feel has been used to his potential since he arrived in TNA. He has had some great moments but I don't think TNA have even scratched the surface of the brilliant talent that they have. I Don't believe that is down to the man himself, Nor can you blame it all on TNA it seems to be a combination of factors which has led to the skills that he has not be recognised as they should (in my opinion) Lets take a look at Ken Anderson's Departure from WWE and Transition into TNA Wrestling and how the ball was given to have then snatched away just as quickly
Lets go Back in time if you will to 25th May 2009 Mr Kennedy as he is known then Returns to WWE from Injury and takes part in a 10 Man Tag Team Match on Raw Below is a promo he did before that match on Raw.
Following this Match the next day WWE release Mr Kennedy. Ken talked about the situation in depth on www.pwrshow.com with David Herro and Dameon Nelson and Gave with 1st interview since being released. He Explains what happened and what took place Click the video below to Listen
In the days since his release from WWE in 2009 he started doing videos on Youtube and these were in my opinion truly brilliant these were videos that he did while he was waiting out his 90 day no complete clause below is Episode 3 (this is one of my favourites!!)
Then in In January 2010 he Joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
He Returned at the Genesis 2010 PPV having changed his name to Mr. Anderson. he wrestled Abyss on the PPV and beat him via Pinfall. Anderson then debuted on Impact on January 21 2010. When this took place I was so happy to see Mr Anderson in TNA thought this could be a great place for him to become TNA champion and to carry of the amazing work that he has started previously.
Mr Anderson TNA debut
It started off Brilliant for us as fans and for Ken himself when the first feud that he engaged in was with Kurt Angle. this centred about Ken using the dog tags that Kurt Angle would wear around his neck. I remember being excited for these matches and looking forward to them. Also a remember a great promo from Mr Anderson where he dressed up as Kurt Angle to Mock him. Ken was brilliant and it was showing the fans in the arena and at home how entertaining he is and the different elements to his character that he possesses.
Following this feud with Kurt Angle Mr Anderson had a feud with Jeff Hardy and delivered one of the best promos - where the coined the phrase "Anderson's Assholes" this promo took place at TNA Sacrifice in May 2010. This is Anderson at his best brilliantly delivered, Funny, Entertaining and catches your attention. In my opinion its was the promo of the year !!
Anderson Assholes Promo
Fast forwarding along to January 9th 2011 At TNA Genesis a year after he debuted with TNA Mr Anderson defeats Matt Morgan in a Number one Contenders Match Following this match and on the same night Mr Anderson faced Current Champion Jeff Hardy. Mr Anderson Defeats Hardy and is TNA champion. I remember thinking this is going to be great - Mr Anderson as champion. Unfortunately and for reasons still unknown Mr Anderson loses the World Title Less than a month later on Feb 13th 2011 at Against All Odds to Jeff Hardy. It was very frustrating Ken was just getting started as Champion and is given the ball by the company then in less than a month its all change again. I really felt for Anderson didn't seem fair that he really wasn't given a chance at all to show what he could do as champion and what he could bring to the table as champion.
But again Mr Anderson Delivers a great promo as you can see below. After Winning the Championship Mr Anderson gave this promo talking his character and WWE.
Following on from this Anderson Then got into a feud with Sting and dressed up as Sting from the early 90's On June 12th 2011 at Slammiversary , Anderson beat Sting after interference to win Sting's TNA Heavyweight championship. After this happened I thought Anderson will hold this longer than his first title reign surely Anderson will now be given hi s chance to shine and be able to have a long run with the title belt. However my faith was mis-placed and again Anderson title reign was cut short My frustration/anger with TNA Management at this point was at boiling point!!
On July 7 Impact Immortal the big heel group led by Eric Bischoff at the time forced Anderson to choose whether he was with them or against them. Anderson at the time was a good guy a face and I thought that TNA would keep him this way. From What I heard his mechanise was selling well and the fans were with him and what he was doing
In my head I thought there is no way Anderson will join Immortal ....However TNA booked it, Anderson joined Immortal. In the process again in my opinion they destroyed everything that Anderson had built, the merchandise he was selling and his character. On July 14 on Impact Anderson lost the TNA Title to Sting. Mr Anderson 2nd Title reign lasted 2 weeks.....I couldn't believe it. Mr Anderson's Two title reigns combined in TNA came to 6 Weeks - how on earth is he able to show what he can do not only that but as I described above TNA destroyed the face Character Merchandise sales and Storyline continuity for 2 weeks I couldn't understand what they were doing again another case of giving Mr Anderson the ball and pulling it away before he had a chance to run with it.
Anderson Last match of 2011 was On November 13 at TNA PPV Turning Point where Anderson and Abyss defeated Bully Ray and Scott Steiner. Mr Anderson was then off TV for 4 Months whether this was because TNA didn't use him during this time or he had time off for outside projects I don't know what the case was.
Since Mr Anderson return in March 2012 he has been involved in a tag team match with partner AJ Styles vs Daniels and Kazarian and also been involved in a Lethal Lockdown match at TNA PPV lockdown. Then very recently in September 2012 Mr Anderson lost a match to Samoa Joe on Impact for the TNA TV title. Following this on 4 October Impact Mr Anderson was attacked by the heel group Aces&Eights as he was chosen by Sting to become his tag partner vs Aces&Eights at TNA Bound For Glory 2012.
My opinion looking back at his TNA career so far Mr Anderson should of been given more of a chance to show what he can do. You can be the greatest wrestler in the world but if the company that you work for changes direction too many times, make the wrong choices or don't have a direction to begin with it can really hurt a great wrestler and that's what I feel has happened to Mr Anderson so far. TNA can right the wrongs and I have no doubt that given the ball and given the chance to run with it - without anyone taking it away too quickly.Mr Anderson can be one of the greatest champions in wrestling.
